USATF Foundation awards four Elite Athlete Development Grants

USA Track & Field LogoThe USA Track & Field Foundation has presented Elite Athlete Development Grants to four athletes, USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic announced Monday.

The USATF Foundation Elite Athlete Grant Program contributes to the pursuit of world-class performances by American post-collegiate track and field athletes. Athletes must meet minimum performance standards to be eligible.

Athletes receiving $3,000 grants include discus thrower Cecilia Barnes, long jumper Shameka Marshall, triple jumper Shani Marks and sprinter/long jumper Brianna Glenn.

Jenner named to USATF Foundation Board of Directors

bruce jenner usa olympic gold medalist decathlon 19761976 Olympic decathlon gold medalist and National Track & Field Hall of Famer Bruce Jenner has been named as a Director of the USA Track & Field Foundation Board, USATF Foundation Executive Director Tom Jackovic announced Thursday.

The USATF Foundation provides a means to attract and guide funds to new and innovative track and field programs with an emphasis on providing opportunities for youth athletes, emerging athletes and anti-doping education.

Bruce Jenner captivated the world when he broke the world record by scoring 8,634 points in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal. Jenner has since become a highly respected motivational speaker, sports commentator, entrepreneur, commercial spokesperson, television personality, actor, producer and author.

USATF Foundation awards Youth Grant to XC for Youth

cross country for youth logoThe USA Track & Field Foundation has presented a $1500 youth grant to Cross Country for Youth in Charlotte, N.C., USATF Foundation Director Tom Jackovic announced Wednesday. The grant was presented to Cross Country for Youth Director Reggie McAfee by USATF Foundation Directors Ike Belk and Jim Beatty in a ceremony in Charlotte.

Cross-Country For Youth is a non-profit organization that fields cross-country teams for middle-school aged boys and girls in grades 6-8. The group competes in several meets throughout the fall, locally and regionally. It was awarded the grant to assist with expenses including T-Shirts, running shorts, socks, shoes and enrollment fees.
