World Championship Sports Network (WCSN), a cable TV network and website that covers over 60 Olympic and lifestyle sports, announced on Monday that it has received a significant investment from private equity firm InterMedia Partners.
Los Angeles-based WCSN covers over 200 live events annually, and has exclusive programming agreements to cover major championship events in sports like track and field, skiing, swimming, gymnastics, cycling, volleyball and karate.
The company has also recently signed deals to distribute its content with ESPN.com, FoxSports.com, AOL Video and Yahoo Sports.
“WCSN controls a powerful set of rights and some of the best-produced sports content featuring the greatest athletes from around the world,” said Peter Kern, managing partner at InterMedia Partners.
“Millions of sports enthusiasts have waited long enough for these events to be consistently available on all platforms.”

Sports+Music = Even Better Nokia 5500

Section: Gear & Apparel, Gadgets & Acces.
The Nokia 5500 Sport has been improved and dubbed the Music Edition by adding a 512 MB microSD card for up to 375 songs, a fitness carrying strap, bicycle holder, and sports headset wrapped in a energetic color.
The carrying strap allows the 5500 to be worn around the waist or strapped around an arm. The sports headset also offers handsfree convenience for music and conversations with an athletic, over-the-ear design. Tunes can be transferred to the handset from your PC via the Nokia Music Manager software.
Don’t forget about the integrated pedometer, telling you the distance travelled and calories burned during a run. Other activities, such as a cycling or cross-country skiing can also monitor distance and calories with an optional GPS accessory. Results of workout routines can then be transferred from the Nokia 5500 Sport Music Edition to a PC to follow individual progress (Can someone pleae say that the Nike+ has been a hit!).
