Elite Racing Sold to Falconhead Capital

Elite Racing, the San Diego event management company which founded the Rock ‘N’ Roll Marathon series, has been sold to Falconhead Capital, LLC, a private equity firm which specializes in investments in sports, leisure, lifestyle, and media-focused businesses. Terms were not disclosed.

Falconhead’s purchase of Elite was part of a larger transaction, amalgamating Elite with Triathlete and Competitor magazines. These three businesses will now operate under the name of Competitor Group, Inc. (CGI).

Programming Note: Boston Marathon Television Coverage

The Boston Athletic Association, founders and organizers of the Boston Marathon, announced yesterday that you can follow their race on Monday through the following media outlets. All times are Eastern Daylight Time.

In Greater Boston (live): WBZ-TV (Ch. 4): Coverage begins at 8:00 a.m. and runs through 3:00 p.m.

USA National (live): Versus (formerly Outdoor Life Network): 9:30 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Available on most cable and satellite systems.

Europe (live): EuroSport. Check your local cable or satellite system listing for details.

Boston Marathon LIVE on Television: Race airing nationally on Versus channel

The Boston Marathon is now over, BUT you can can relive this year’s incredible race by viewing our live coverage at: http://boston.thefinalsprint.com

The Boston Marathon, scheduled to begin two hours earlier than past years, will reach local, national and international viewers with complete, live coverage.

WBZ-TV (CBS affiliate, Channel 4) will provide its exclusive live, local broadcast from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET. WBZ-TV, a partner of the Boston Athletic Association for 27 years, is the only Boston television station providing live wire-to-wire coverage of the 2007 Boston Marathon.

For the third year, Versus (formerly known as Outdoor Life Network) will provide complete, live, national coverage from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. ET. A same-day, encore presentation of the Versus telecast will air from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. ET.
