Trevor Graham Trial to Begin This Week
The trial of Marion Jones’ former coach, Trevor Graham, begins this week in a San Francisco, CA federal court room. Several prominent names expected to take the stand as prosecution witness include Antonio Pettigrew, Jerome Young, Calvin Harrison and Dennis Mitchell.

Sebastian Coe: Get These People Out Of Our Sport
Lord Sebastian Coe, a vice-president of the IAAF and one of the best middle-distance runners of all time is not pleased with Dwain Chambers’ attempt to get back into track & field, saying, “The way we move away from it [the drugs issue] is we have got to get these people out of our sport. I don’t recognise a particularly principled stand in the last few days.”

Australian Marathoner Emphasizes Severity of Conditions in Beijing
Australian marathoner Lee Troop, who qualified for his third Olympic Marathon on the strength of his 6th place performance of 2:10:31 at the Berlin Marathon, is contemplating the severity of the conditions he will be facing in Beijing, saying that, “It’s going to be very hard to replicate the exact conditions of Beijing because the conditions over there are going to be so oppressive with the heat, humidity and smog.” Read more at: [Geelong Advertiser, Australia]

Meb Keflezighi Still In Shock Over Death of Friend Ryan Shay
Meb Keflezighi, who was friend and training partner to Ryan Shay for more than 7 years, is still shocked by his friend’s death, saying, “One minute we’re trying to get ready for the Olympic Trials. USA’s Rupp wins Zatopek Classic 10,000m despite rain

galen-rupp-zatopek-classic-10000m.jpgThe Telstra Zatopek Classic’s 10,000m event in Melbourne, Australia has featured victories by legends like Ron Clarke and Craig Mottram. This year, it was won by two international stars: American Galen Rupp, the 20-yr old standout from the University of Oregon, and New Zealand’s Jessica Ruthe (33:04.52).

Rupp had hoped to run the event in under 28 minutes, but rain and a conservative start by the race field made that impossible. However, he still secured the victory with a very respectable time of 28:28.18.
