Three Sub 2:07 Marathoners Added To Rotterdam Marathon Entry List
Organizers of the Rotterdam Marathon have ensured another fast race in 2008 by adding three sub 2:07 marathoners to the entry list. The three runners, Robert Cheboror, William Kipsang and Joseph Riri, are Kenyans, of course. The race will be held on Sunday, April 13th, 2008.

Another Strong Women’s Field For 2008 Boston Marathon
Boston Marathon organizers have announced that thee of the top women marathoners in the world will be running in the 112th Boston Marathon to be held on April 21st, 2008, the same weekend as the US Women’s Olympic Marathon Trials. Lidiya Grigoryeva, the defending Maria Mutola image courtesy of mariamutola.comchampion, will race 2006 winner Rita Jeptoo and two-time runner-up Jelena Prokopcuka.

Maria Mutola Award Created At Pre Classic
Tom Jordan, the meet director at Eugene, Oregon’s Prefontaine Classic, has created a new award to honor the meet’s outstanding athlete. Fittingly, it will be called the Maria Mutola Outstanding Athlete Award. After all, Mutola has won the Pre Classic 800m an astonishing FIFTEEN TIMES!

Challengers added to Berlin Marathon field

berlin marathon logoOrganizers of the 34th real, - Berlin Marathon announced today that four strong Kenyan athletes will line up for the Sept. 30 race to challenge defending champion Haile Gebrselassie.

The group is led by the veteran Sammy Korir whose 2:04:56 second place finish at Berlin in 2003 is still the second-fastest marathon ever run. Korir, 35, ran last year’s edition of the race, splitting 25 km in 1:15:48, but he dropped out in the 26th kilometer with a hamstring injury. Korir has not recorded a marathon finish in 2007.

Volkswagen Prague Marathon releases start list

prague marathon logoThe 13th edition of the Volkswagen Prague Marathon will take place on Sunday in the Czech capital, marking the traditional end of the spring marathon season.

Leading the men’s field are Kenyans Joseph Riri (2:06:49 PB) and Daniel Cheribo (2:08:38). Oleksandr Kuzin of Ukraine (2:07:33) is entered, but planning to pace for 28 to 30 km.
