The Association of Athletics Managers (AAM) agreed at their autumn meeting in Miami last week that its members will not represent any athlete who has tested positive and was convicted of a doping violation for which he or she has served a two-year ban or longer.
The AAM represents 29 athletics managers and management firms, including big players like Jos Hermens’ Global Sports Communications and Federico Rosa’s Rosa & Associatti.

Two key athletes who had been contracted to run the 2007 ING New York City Marathon on Sunday, Nov. 4, have withdrawn from the race, according to the New York Road Runners, the race founders and organizers.
Tetyana Hladyr of Ukraine, the surprise second place finisher in last year’s women’s race, has been forced to quit the field due to a foot injury which will require surgery, according to her agent Andrey Baranov. Her husband, Aleksandr Kuzin, still remains in the field, however. He set a personal best of 2:07:33 in a solo run in Linz last April.
Also out of the race is the world record holder in the half-marathon, Samuel Wanjiru. Wanjiru, who runs for a Japanese corporate team, decided to postpone his debut because of unspecified difficulties with his preparations, according to his agent, Federico Rosa.

The fastest man ever over the half-marathon distance, Samuel Wanjiru, has set his sights on Zersenay Tadesse’s course record at September’s Great North Run in Great Britain, organizers announced today.
“I don’t know about the course, but maybe when I come there, I intend trying to make a course record,” Wanjiru said through a press release, referring to Tadesse’s 59:05 course record set in 2005.
Wanjiru’s pending world record of 58:35 was set in The Hague on Mar. 17, an improvement over his own 58:53 set in Ras al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates on Feb. 9. He is the only man to ever break the 59 minute barrier twice.
