Universal Sports to Broadcast U.S. Olympic Track Trials, Present Encore Presentations

Coverage of the U.S. Olympic Trials, the pressure-packed competition held every four years to select the U.S. Olympic Team, continue on the networks of NBC Universal with nearly 20 hours of swimming and track & field trials over the next two weeks including 10 straight nights of live primetime coverage on NBC and USA. Additionally Universal Sports will present encore presentations of the trials.
Tyson Gay, Allyson Felix, Jeremy Wariner, Bernard Lagat, Reese Hoffa, Sanya Richards and Lauryn Williams are among the top competitors at the historic Hayward Field at the University of Oregon looking to earn a trip to Beijing to represent the U.S. at the Olympic Games. Tom Hammond, Carol Lewis, Lewis Johnson, Ato Boldon, Dwight Stones, Ed Eyestone and Bob Neumeier report from Eugene, Ore.

NCAA Cross Country Championships to Be Broadcast on the Web

Monday’s NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships will be broadcast on the internet, according to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The meet, one of the most exciting and competitive foot races held in the United States, will be contested at Indiana State University on Monday afternoon. The men’s 10 km race goes off at 12:08 p.m. eastern time followed by the women’s 6 km race at 12:58 p.m.
The broadcast will be produced by CSTV and will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. ET. A link for the broadcast will be available at http://www.ustfccca.org.
NYRR Announces Top-Rate Broadcast and Web Coverage for U.S. Olympic Team Trials & ING New York City Marathon

New York Road Runners today announced an unprecedented level of broadcast and webstreaming coverage for the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Men’s Marathon on November 3 and the ING New York City Marathon 2007 on November 4. The two events will be broadcast and streamed around the world via NBC, WNBC-4HD, NBCSports.com, NBCOlympics.com and WCSN.com.
“We are pleased to have such extensive coverage of this unprecedented weekend of marathon running,” said Mary Wittenberg, president and CEO of New York Road Runners and race director of both events. “By providing local, national and international options on both television and broadband of each race, we are better serving our sport’s fan base worldwide. Expanding broadcast options is a continued priority for New York Road Runners.”
On Saturday, November 3, the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Men’s Marathon will be streamed worldwide for free on NBCsports.com, the first time an Olympic Trials event has been streamed live online. NBC’s “TODAY” will cut in live to broadcast the start of the race nationally at 7:35 a.m. EDT, and NBC will air a national half-hour highlights show from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m.

NBC Announces 3,600 Hours of Olympic Coverage

NBC Universal Sports & Olympics chairman Dick Ebersol announced today that NBC plans on broadcasting more than 3,600 hours of coverage of the 2008 Olympic Games from Beijing, China. However, the majority of that coverage will be on the internet with live streaming video on NBCOlympics.com.
This is the first time the Olympic Games will be broadcast on the internet. According to the NBC website, the 2008 Olympic Games will feature “302 medal events across 34 sports.”
According to Yahoo! news:
“The 3,600 broadcast hours that are planned by NBC are more than the combined total of every previous Summer Games televised in the U.S.”

SportNet.com to Broadcast Three More Golden League Events on the Web

USA Track & Field announced last week that Sportnet.com would broadcast four more track meets live in 2007, including the final three meets of the IAAF Golden League series. Sportnet will also broadcast the the 2007 USA Masters Outdoor Track & Field Championships from Orono, Me. There is no charge to view the meets.
