Baby Girl for Anastasia Ndereba

Kenyan marathoner, Anastasia Ndereba, gave birth to a baby girl, Joyruth Njeri, on Monday, June 11, at 1:00 p.m.

“She weighs 8 lbs. (3.6 kg) and mother and baby are doing fine,” wrote Lisa Buster, Ndereba’s manager, in an e-mail to friends.

Ndereba, 32, is the younger sister of 2003 IAAF World Marathon champion, Catherine Ndereba. She has a career best time of 2:29:03 set in Venice in 2002.


World marathon record-holder Paula Radcliffe gives birth to a baby girl

paula_radcliffe.jpgCongratulations to Paula Radcliffe, the world marathon record-holder, and her husband Gary Lough on the birth of their first child. Paula gave birth to a healthy, baby girl this morning in Monaco on the French Riviera.

Talk about being born with speed genes! With the world’s fastest female marathon runner for a mother and a father who has ran the 1500m in 3:34 - this child certainly would seem to have a future running career somewhere in her genetic makeup!

The Final Sprint and I would like to express our sincere congratulations to Paula and Gary.
