Nike today announced the opening of its first NIKEiD Studio at Niketown in New York City, giving consumers a more hands-on design experience and the power to design and create footwear, apparel and equipment for themselves, for their friends, and even to be purchased by others around the world.
The NIKEiD Studio is a consumer destination for designing, personalizing and customizing Nike performance and sport culture footwear, apparel and equipment, and marks the beginning of a design community, both virtual and hands-on, for consumers to share ideas, concepts and a passion for NIKEiD.

We all have moments when we simply don’t feel like working out. It’s not always easy to lace up the shoes, walk out to the car in the cold, or wake up for a 5 a.m. run.
There are a number of demons staring us down: a sour attitude; the comfortable couch we dared to sit on after an exhausting work day; the cozy bed with a warm, enveloping partner; or just plain laziness. We can all agree that while we may not always feel up for a workout, we are thrilled with how we feel at the finish. The natural high kicks in. This is why it’s vital to have strategies for dealing with the fight.
I want to highlight three ideas I find useful. You can think of them as ways to trick your mind into doing what your body knows it needs. Perhaps all of the strategies don’t appeal to you. That’s okay. Pick one and experiment.

Need advice? Injured? Confused? Overwhelmed? Bored? ASK FLASH!
ASK FLASH is a free advice column to help you with all of your running, fitness and nutrition inquiries. To ASK FLASH — simply fill out the form at the conclusion of the column.
Today, Flash will reveal his personal approach to several key running questions from Curious in Askea Grove, Alabama…
Q. What kind of clothes do you wear when training/racing? Stylish top of the line, or old tattered race shirts and whatever shorts you dig up?
A. I am very much a function over fashion kind of guy - but that doesn’t mean that fashion doesn’t matter. To me, it all starts with being comfortable. I’m not comfortable in cotton shirts because … well … because they make my nipple bleed. That is a bummer - who needs that?
I’m not comfortable in very short running shorts because my thighs rub and chafe. Again, bummer. Big droopy basketball shorts weigh far too much when you sweat like I do. So, I have settled into a style of comfort. I mostly wear good quality mid-length runners shorts, sleeveless technical shirts, and very high quality technical underwear (see Underwear…it really matters).

A few days ago, a reader sent me 5 messages asking what underwear he should wear under his track shorts. Although often overlooked, it is actually a topic very worthy of discussion and consideration … but just maybe not 5 messages … :-)
Q. Dude! Please respond. I am having problems and need advice ASAP!!! Important parts of me are ending up in pain after track workouts and long runs. Should I be wearing underwear under my track shorts? I mean, they have a liner. If so, what kind of underwear?!?
~Ouch in Chaffeeville, Connecticut
A. Clearly, underwear is not the first thing discussed in running circles. We will talk about our socks forever. Shoes? Any one of us could write a dissertation on shoes. My brother and I have hour long phone conversations talking about running shoes. So, what about underwear? Without further ado … the male underwear discussion.

You’ve heard that clothes make the man … or woman. Well, when it comes to running, clothes absolutely make the runner. But in the world of running, the emphasis isn’t on being a fashion plate (despite what that Paris Hilton look-a-like at the gym thinks). The emphasis is instead on functionality. This may seem a daunting task to a new runner, but not to worry - TFS has prepared this simple, beginner’s guide to help you make the right choices.

Nike recently introduced a new line of gear, shoes and apparel called Nike+ [see our article Nike + Apple = Tune Your Run for more information]. To coincide with this great advancement, Apple has added a new section to the iTunes Music Store with several offerings designed to enhance the Nike + iPod experience.
Nike Sport Music features five Nike+ Workouts, continuous play music mixes with voice-over coaching instructions (this helps you to pace your work-out to achieve your goal of endurance training), speed training, strength training, and treadmill training. It also includes Nike video podcasts; Sport iMixes put together by iTunes customers. Furthermore, iTunes offers Athlete Inspiration playlists featuring music picks from Nike sponsors Lance Armstrong, champion marathoner Paula Radcliffe, Vince Carter, World Cup standout Ronaldo, Landon Donovan, and others.
The Crystal Method, an electronic group, has also created an exclusive 45-minute sport mix for iTunes featuring original tracks and new remixes of their older songs.
Even if you are not training for a marathon right now, you can use Nike+ for your fun runs and your workouts. Apple and Nike is keeping you in shape, by making you conscious of your performances and by maintaining your motivation.
Now…download, and run.
