World Masters Championships Begin Monday in France
The 3rd WMA-Indoor Championships begin Monday, March 17th, 2008 in Clermont-Ferrand, France. The US contingent is 132 strong, the largest non-European delegation at the event. Host country France has assembled a record team of 1267 athletes; followed by Germany, with 383; Spain, with 334; Italy, with 319 and Great Britain, with 285.

Gebrselassie Explains “Sub-Par” Performance
Even though he won by a minute and a half, even though he was well under the hour mark for a half marathon (his winning time was 59:15), even though he ran the 14th fastest half of all time, even though he did it without the benefit of rabbits, Haile Gebrselassie still felt a need to explain what he must consider to be his sub-par performance at the Lisbon Half Marathon, saying, “I tried to push myself for a better performance but I couldn’t do better. It’s a little bit hot, I’m feeling well, but I couldn’t achieve my goal. It’s no excuse, but I’m a little bit worried about my father’s health. I’m in good shape and I can’t tell why I couldn’t run faster.”

ASU Men and Women Sweep NCAA Championships
Led by Kyle Alcorn’s win in the men’s 3000m with a time of 8:00.82, the Arizona State Sun Devils won the men’s and women’s 2008 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships Saturday night at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, AR. The women beat LSU 51 to 43 while the men beat Florida State 44 to 41.
