So far as I’m aware, there are only two events coming up this week. But they’re big ones. As always, times listed are EDT.
NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships
CBS College Sports and NCAA.com, Noon - 1:30 PM Monday (live)
The annual championships will be carried live both on cable and the web starting at noon on Monday. The women’s race (at 12:08 pm) looks to be a runaway by Washington, but the men’s race (at 12:48 pm) is going to be a great showdown between Oregon and Oklahoma State, and Galen Rupp and Samuel Chelanga.
HBO’s Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel
HBO, 10 PM Tuesday
Former 100 meters World Record holder Tim Montgomery will be interviewed. Montgomery’s record was stripped after he admitted doping under oath in the BALCO affair, and he is facing significant prison time for distribution of heroin and bank fraud. Also, the show revisits the use of marathon training in drug rehab.
