michael fout 2007 foot locker midwest regional cross country championshipsThe road to recovery has been undeniably long. It has been a struggle to watch as the state finals here in Indiana came to a close and to sit back and see all of the jaw-dropping results that runners across the States are throwing down. But, I am extremely happy to announce that I am well on my way back to being and feeling like the runner I should be.

Sure, right now it is nothing major … run 2 days, take a day off, run 2 days and take a day off, and so on. This has been going on for a couple of weeks now. And as much as I would like to be able to go out for a 15 miler on Sunday, I know that I have to remain patient. It is nice to have my coach, Bob Braman of FSU, preaching that to me. Because of him, I feel more grounded already, and to me that is a good thing. This coming up week, since all is going well, I hope to run each day, just 30 minutes. But after being kept from the sport I love for 2 dreadful months, some is certainly better than none.

My last day of high school was June 5, and with those days now behind me, I think of what days are ahead of me. College is approaching quickly and I recently realized that I have just about 5 months until the NCAA cross country national championships. Also with that, I think about how all of the college guys are going to be giving everything they’ve got on June 11-14 in Iowa. I am more excited about the NCAA national championships this year than any other year and I just wanted to wish all FSU athletes the best of luck! As far as that goes, I want to wish everybody competing in the track championships the best of luck.

I actually just got done reading all of the comments posted by others about my blog entries, and I have to say that I am extremely thankful for those. It seriously makes me feel great that I can help in some big ways and it also gives me a chance to see all of the support that I have out there. Although getting through an injury deals a great deal with overcoming things mentally, it never hurts to have a little support from others as you try getting through tough times. Redundant I know, but thanks to you all!

Being that things may not be the most exciting for me right now, and I have basically just been running here and there and studying like crazy for school finals, I realize that my blog entries may be affected by that. Also, I would like to start responding to any comments that are left on the blog pages, so look for those. As always, best of luck to everybody in whatever they do, keep your head up no matter what the situation, and always give 110%.

Thanks!
-Michael
