USATF Foundation Makes Grants To Win With Integrity, Mark Springer Programs

The USA Track & Field Foundation announced today that it has made $20,000 grants to two of USATF’s most successful programs, Win With Integrity and the Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant program.
“The Win With Integrity and The Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant Program support the development youth programs in the United States, on and off the track,” said USATF Foundation board member Bob Betz. “Instilling strong core values in our athletes and all young people is a priority for all of us.”
The Win With Integrity program is a USA Track & Field (USATF) program initiative aimed at educating youth, parents, educators, and coaches about the positive results that come from leading a physically active, drug-free lifestyle while living with integrity. A program in which the champions of track and field work directly with young people around the nation, the Win With Integrity program has evolved from a start-up program in 2004 into one of USA Track & Field’s most successful initiatives.
Since the inception of the program in October 2004, nearly 75 athletes have spoken to more than 30,000 young people from coast to coast, and many more students have been reached through athletes visiting schools in their hometown communities. At each Win With Integrity visit, athletes speak to children about living with integrity, staying away from drugs of all kinds, being healthy and staying fit. Children interact with the athletes, asking them questions relevant to their own lives.
Named after the former USATF Director of Grass Roots Programs and Planning and originator of the program, the Mark Springer Youth Travel Grant Program offers travel assistance grants to eligible youth clubs across the country. Since 2000, the grants have helped clubs offset expenses related to bringing athletes to USATF national or developmental championships. Grants, totaling more than $200,000, have been awarded to more than 200 clubs since the program’s inception, making it one of USATF’s most popular grass roots efforts.
