USC Trojans LogoOn Monday I posted the men’s dual-meet rankings. Here are the women’s rankings, following the same rules and formats:

#1. Southern Cal
The Trojans beat UCLA, and that’s all they needed to be ranked at the top.

#2. Minnesota
The Golden Gophers won the four-team Pepsi Collegiate Challenge by a single point over Oregon.

#3. Oregon
The Ducks took a narrow second at the Pepsi Challenge, defeating Penn State and Washington. (Next year they are expected to join in the revived men’s dual meet with UCLA.)

#4. Illinois
The Fighting Illini hosted and won an indoor four-way meet with Texas, Miami (FL) and UCLA.

#5. Arizona State

The Sun Devils took third at Nebraska’s Jim Click Shootout, but had just come off winning the NCAA indoor championship and didn’t send their best team, so this is discounted somewhat. They did sweep the annual double-dual with Arizona and Northern Arizona.

#6. Nebraska
The Huskers won their own Jim Click Shootout over Arizona, Arizona State and Georgia.

#7. Michigan
The Wolverines won an indoor meet over Akron, Michigan State and Central Michigan.

#8. Miami (FL)
The Hurricanes took second in the above-mentioned indoor season opener at Illinois.

#9. Stanford
The Cardinal took third in a very early outdoor four-way meet, beating San Francisco and losing to Fresno State and UC-Davis. It was so early that some athletes instead went to a last-chance qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Championships while others rested up for said championships, so this meet has little to no effect on their ranking. Stanford earns their spot based on their win over Cal in the annual “Big Meet”.

#10. Purdue
The Boilermaker’s win in their indoor Gene Edmonds Cup (over Indiana State and Southeast Missouri) just nudges them past Boston College for the final ranking spot.
