Haile Chooses Berlin Over Beijing
Haile Gebrselassie will run in the Berlin Marathon, not the Olympic Marathon in Beijing. The reason? He wants to run a sub 2:04 and “no athlete has ever broken a world record for the marathon at the Olympics.”

The Long Green Line Wins Award
The documentary The Long Green Line was awarded the best feature documentary award at the Lake Forest Film Festival. The film documents a season in the life of the York High School Cross Country team - the most successful cross country team in history. Head Coach Joe Newton is coaching in his 50th season, and his team is going for their 25th state title.

Gaffigan Ready To “Re-calibrate Some Gauges”
Ann Gaffigan, in her new blog entry on Steeplechics.com, discusses the effort that gained her entry into the Olympic Trials. After a long, mysterious illness that has wreaked havoc on her confidence, the former American record holder is ready “to do it over again after re-calibrating some gauges” and wants to “take more risks to test my limits without paying so dearly for it.”

Mo Greene Now Appears To Be Precariously Clinging To His Untarnished Reputation
The next doping scandal is not going away, despite the best efforts of the IAAF to squelch it. Now, word of an anonymous letter has arrived at the embattled agency’s doorstep, corroborating Angel Guillermo Heredia’s claim that he sold Maurice Greene steroids in the 1990s. So who penned the letter (by the way, who writes letters anymore)? Apparently, it was one other than Greene’s former training partner Ato Boldon. Say it ain’t so, Mo!

The Benefits Of Being A Reigning Olympic Champion
Jeremy Wariner gets to vie for the Golden League’s million dollar jackpot, LaShawn Merritt does not. Nor do other Americans like Bernard Lagat and Tyson Gay, who have a more pressing engagement when the first Golden League meet begins in Berlin - that’s right, they have to stay home and qualify for Beijing while Wariner gets a bye.
