Outdoor season has officially arrived! I am waiting for my chance to really “hammer” a 3200 or 1600 outdoors. With a lot of the guys around the country running blazing times this early, I feel that when I get my chance I can do the same. I am really looking forward to going after that state record held by Mr. Rudy Chapa. I recently had the opportunity to speak with him and he seems very excited about me going for it. It is awesome to have him cheering me on. He is an Indiana legend and I also hope to leave behind some kind of a legacy.
Another thing I like about the outdoor season is that I get to really see my teammates push themselves to new limits and see what they really have. It is a great thing to see the new and old members of the team improving at such a quick rate. The coaches of the LaPorte program are really doing an awesome job. I get so much inspiration from the junior varsity guy who refuses to let anybody out-kick him in a distance event, or the J.V. guy who wins the 100, 200, and is part of the winning 4×1 Mile team. They push to new limits that they have never been to before in hopes of winning the race and receiving a pat on the back. When I race, I hope to dig down deep like they do and reach a new level. This is my goal. I want to collapse across the finish line of a race this season and have absolutely nothing left. It is so hard to push it to that level, but it can be done.
To those who read this journal online, thank you so much for your positive comments. Thank you to those who support me in my dreams of becoming the state record holder in the 3200 meter run. Thanks to my family, friends, teammates, girlfriend Amanda, and if it weren’t for God, none of this would be possible. He has helped me get through so much adversity just to be where I am today. And, I hope to continue improving, so I ask that He will continue to be with me through it all; I know He will be. Thanks to everybody who has given me continuing support. Best of luck to all, and strive to push to new limits that you thought were never possible. Who knows, you just might reach it.
