Magdalena Lewy Boulet continues to lead 6 miles into the U.S. Olympic Trials: Women’s Marathon with the pack about 1:13 back.
Lewy Boulet’s splits for the 4th and 5th miles were 5:26, 5:43. Deena Kastor, Elva Dryer, Mary Akor, and Blake Russell have begun to assert themselves at the front of a 12 person chase pack but thus far have not gained significant ground.
Lewy Boulet cannot run away and hide on this course however; there are a number of hairpin turns where the leader and pack can gauge their distance very accurately. Thus far Magdalena Lewy Boulet has used these turns for an adrenaline advantage- let’s see how long she can keep it up!
