Coe: Track & Field Can’t Survive Another Drug Scandal
Double Olympic gold medalist Sebastian Coe said that another scandal could wreck the sport of track & field, saying, “we cannot have another five years like the one we’ve just been through because I’m not sure the sport would survive that.”

Oregon High Schooler Runs 1:52 800m With No Speed Work
Having done no speedwork yet, Elijah Greer, a junior from Oswego High School, ran an outstanding early-season time of 1:52.66 at the University of Washington’s Husky Classic. It is the best prep time of the season.

Cautious Powell May Withdraw From Melbourne
Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell, the world record holder in the 100m dash, may withdraw from Thursday’s Melbourne Grand Prix, saying ” this [Olympic year] is not a year to risk it.” He opened a gash in his knee last week that required stitches.

Slew Of World Bests At Qatar Super Grand Prix
Allyson Felix ran a 50.40 in the 400m, Blanka Vlasic high-jumped 2.04m, David Payne ran a 13.12 in the 110m hurdles, Augustine Choge ran 3:31.73 over the 1500m distance and Eliud Kipchoge ran a 3000m time of 7:33.06 at the Qatar Super Grand Prix. All are world-best marks in what is promising to be an outstanding season.
