Our friends at MarathonGuide.com have drafted a fascinating report on marathon participants in the USA for 2007. Some key findings:
. 407,000 runners finished marathons in the USA in 2007, up 2.3% from 2006 despite the closing of the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon after three hours and 50 minutes and several thousand missed finishers at the Honolulu Marathon.
. 60.5% of USA marathon finishers were men and 39.5% were women.
. The ING New York City Marathon was –once again– the largest marathon with 38,557 finishers.
. The average age of a marathon finisher in the USA was 38.9 years (40.5 for men and 36.5 for women).
You can read the entire exclusive report at this link. It’s a must read for anyone in the running business.
