One of the founding fathers of distance running in the United States, Ted Corbitt, has died at the age of 88. Corbitt was revered for his achievements as an athlete, administrator and course measurer.
You can read a remembrance of him at the IAAF website at this link: [IAAF].
I had a chance to meet Ted several times, and I was always struck by his gentle manner and warm smile. He will be missed, but his contributions live on, particularly in the area of course measurement where he was a true pioneer.

December 12th, 2007 at 5:17 pmMy father, Nathaniel Cirulnick, and Ted go way back. I grew up in a running family, and Ted was a part of it. In the past years, my mom would have Ted over at Thanksgiving. He was a part of my family, and he will be missed. I’ve lost both my parents in the past four years, and now I’m losing their friends, people I’ve known since I was a baby. Ted, you are in my thoughts.
