Chicago Marathon Race Director Predicts “Heck of a race”
‘’Robert wants to push, and Felix [Limo] is in top form,'’ Pinkowski said. ‘’Rutto, outside of Khalid Khannouchi, is the best natural talent I’ve ever seen, and Gharib is a champion. These are the top guns, and they have come here seeking each other out. It’s going to be a heck of a race.'’

IOC and IAAF Will Move Quickly to Strip Jones of Medals
The IOC and th IAAF are both expected to move quickly to complete the investigation into the Marion Jones doping case, which could result in her being stripped of her 3 gold and 2 bronze Olympic medals. IOC VP Thomas Bach said to the Associated Press, “We welcome that there is now some light to be shed on the whole affair. Now, with this admission, we can accelerate and speed up the procedures.” Ironically, silver medalist Katerina Thanou – currently under criminal investigation for perjury after missing a doping test – would inherit the 100m gold medal if Jones were tyo be stripped of it.Read more at: [IHT]
Australian Athlete: Beijing Will Not be a Clean Olympics
Australian Melinda Gainsford-Taylor, who finished 6th in the 200m behind disgraced superstar Marion Jones at the 2000 Sydney Olympics spoke to ABC TV and said, when discussing next year’s Olympic Games in Beijing, “I don’t really believe we’re going to have a clean Olympics. Cross Country Weekend Schedule
In NCAA Div. I cross country, the Oregon men (#1) and women (#3), the Stanford women (#1) and the University of Wisconsin men (#2) all remain idle this weekend, the Colorado Buffaloes men and women (both #2) will be competing in the FHSU Tiger Open in Hays, KS. Read more at: [FHSU]
Increasing Calls for West to Boycott Beijing Olympics
Because of the crackdown on protesters in Myanmar (formerly Burma) and China’s apparent unwillingness to do anything about it, many in the West are calling for a boycott of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China. Among those calling for the boycott is British Parliament Vice-President Edward McMillan-Scott, who is calling for the EU to boycott the games. Read more at: [Google News]
