West Coast Bank (Nasdaq: WCBO) is the exclusive bank sponsor of the 36th Annual Portland Marathon on October 7, 2007. West Coast Bank employees, as volunteers, will also provide support for runners and walkers in the event, heading up the West Coast Bank Aid Station located near mile 25 of the course.
President and CEO Robert D. Sznewajs said, “The renowned Portland Marathon draws runners from all over the world. West Coast Bank is pleased to support the Portland-Vancouver community for the third consecutive year through our monetary and volunteer support of this exciting event.”
The Portland Marathon has been dubbed the “best organized marathon in North America” by the Ultimate Guide to Marathons and “the marathon to walk in 2006″ by Prevention magazine. Behind its success is founder and organizer Les Smith.
Smith said, “The Portland Marathon is an all volunteer-produced event that results in more than $2 million raised for charities. The event has an economic impact of more than $15 million for state and local economy. We are proud to have West Coast Bank as our sponsor.”
