Greek Sprinters’ Perjury Trial Postponed
Costas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou were to stand trial on Monday for allegedly faking a motorcycle accident in 2004 so that they could avoid a doping test prior to the Athens Olympics. Twelve people, including the athletes, their trainer, their doctors and some witnesses, face up to 2 years in prison if convicted of the misdemeanor perjury charge. Read more at: [Sports Illustrated]

Kenyan Samuel Wanjiru to Try for 1/2 Marathon World Record
Kenyan Samuel Wanjiru set a world record of 58:33 for the 1/2 marathon earlier this year in The Hague, Netherlands. Now he is going to attempt to beat that time at the 2007 IAAF World Road Running Championships in Udine, Italy on October 14th, 2007, “just for fun.” Read more at: [IAAF WRU07]

Top 3 Finishers of Warsaw Marathon Set PB’s
Paweł Ochal (POL) set a new course record of 12:12:20 at the 29th Warsaw Marathon. Rafal Wojcik (POL), a former steeplechaser, was second in 2:13.11, and Adam Draczynski finished third with a time of 2:13:56. All three athletes set personal bests. Read more at: [Warsaw Marathon]
Husband and Wife Win U.S. 50 Mile Championships Titles
Asheville Citizen-Times has a profile today of Anne and Mark Lundblad, a husband and wife team who won the men’s and women’s national 50 Mile titles at the Tussey Mountainback 50-mile race Saturday in Boalsburg, Pa.
