Four alive in $1 million Golden League Jackpot chase

Following their victories in Paris on Friday night, four athletes remained alive in the chase for the $1 million IAAF Golden League Jackpot.
Pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva of Russia, Americans Sanya Richards (400m) and Michelle Perry (100m hurdles) and javelin thrower Tero Pitkamaki of Finland are still in the hunt for a share of the $1 million prize pot, with continues on Friday night at the Golden Gala Kinder+Sport meeting in Rome.
To claim a share of the prize, athletes must win at each of the six meets. In the event that no athlete wins at all six competitions, those with five victories in the series will share $500,000. All winners must compete at the IAAF World Athletics Final in Stuttgart, scheduled for September 22-23, to claim any winnings.
After Friday’s meeting in Rome, the series takes a long break and resumes after the IAAF World Championships at ZĂĽrich’s Weltklasse on Sept. 7, then moves on to Brussels on Friday, Sept. 14, and concludes that same weekend in Berlin on Sept. 16.
