Stuczynski, Gay keep Visa Championship Series leads

Jenn Stuczynski and Tyson Gay held onto their respective leads in USA Track & Field’s Outdoor Visa Championship Series following Sunday’s Nike Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Ore.
Michelle Perry moved up from fifth to third in the women’s standings with her win in the women’s 100 meter hurdles. Her time of 12.51 seconds is worth 1,207 points using IAAF scoring tables. Sheena Johnson, Sanya Richards and Alice Schmidt all entered the standings with their performances at Pre, but Stuczynski’s 1,218 points from her American-record pole vault of 4.88m/16-0 at the Reebok Grand Prix on June 2 keeps her atop the standings.
The men’s standings remained largely unchanged. Anwar Moore and Xavier Carter entered the standings in seventh and ninth, respectively. Moore was out-leaned at the finish by China’s Liu Xiang in the 110 meter hurdles, his time of 13.24 seconds earning 1,210 points. Carter won a star-studded men’s 200m with a time of 20.23 to earn 1,206 poitns. Tyson Gay’s 9.76 100-meter dash at the Reebok Grand Prix gives him a big lead with 1,291 points, 13 points ahead of second-place Terrence Trammell.
The current Visa Championship Series standings follow listing the ranked athlete’s name, points, site the name of the meet where the performance took place and their respective mark.

The Visa Championship Series will conclude June 20-24 with the AT&T USA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Indianapolis.
