AT&T USA Outdoor T&F Champs: Trotter wins 400m; Richards shocks everyone with 4th place finish

dee dee trotter Sanya Richards was the favorite coming in; coming off of an incredible 2007 where was was chosen as the Athlete of the Year. However, this 400m field also included DeeDee Trotter and Natasha Hastings.

As soon as the gun went off Richards went out hard. Hastings remained close and DeeDee Trotter started to come on fast at the mid-way point.

However, Trotter was able to surge forward for the lead and Richards shockingly finished 4th. Richards, who skipped competition this spring, may have been affected by her lack of racing thus far in 2007.

Hastings finished was very impressive and she really blew away the rest of the top sprinters.

After the race, Richards said how disappointed she was to finish 4th (which will deny her a spot in the 400m for the World Champs), but will still have an opportunity to compete for Team USA in the 200m.
