Training Peaks delivers free advice & training plans from running expert Hal Higdon

Starting this spring, the active individual can train with running plans designed by Hal Higdon; a renowned coach and best-selling author.
These plans are part of Training Peaks ongoing support of Higdon; to deliver training to the masses via the World Wide Web. In addition, as part of their sponsorship of the Training Peaks program, Target will underwrite six training programs that will be offered free to athletes.
The free programs are perfect for beginners because they show how to run safely and smoothly.
“We’re excited about our partnership with Target because it allows us to offer these high-demand training plans by Hal Higdon to active people everywhere for free,” said Donavon Guyot, chief executive officer, Training Peaks.
“Hal has trained thousands to achieve goals from their first 5k to a full marathon. If you want solid training advice – Hal’s the guy. The accessibility of these plans is a tremendous value to runners from beginner to those with a 10K goal.”
Higdon, author of Marathon: The Ultimate Training Guide, was an early adopter of training interactively. Runners, who visit the Training Peaks web site, will be able to access Higdon’s free online programs which begin with his 30/30 plan of a half hour a day for 30 days.
As part of the program, Training Peaks will email runners each morning with the day’s running plan and words of encouragement to stay on track. After 30 days, the runner can sign up for one of the other free programs and train for a 5-K or 10-K.
“I’m so excited to offer free programs aimed at start-up runners. It can be tough enough to make the commitment to be a better runner. So, this takes the work out of staying on course, said Hal Higdon.
“My online programs are typically fee based, so I love the added incentive this provides for those who are putting on their first pair of shoes this spring in hopes of someday running a marathon.”
