Multiple records were broken Saturday, May 5 at Duke University in the 37th Southeastern U.S. Masters track & field championships.
In the women’s 65-and-over age group, Mary Louise Michelsohn of Stony Brook, N.Y., ran the mile in 6 minutes 16.28 seconds to better the previous record of 6:19.04 run on April 6, 2003 by Diane Palmason. In the W45 1,500m, Joan Nesbit Mabe ran 4:43.21 to break the American record of 4:46.00 set by Carmen Ayala-Troncoso in June 2006.
