Early registration is now available online for the first-ever Breast Cancer Marathon, to be held on February 17, 2008 in Jacksonville, Florida.
“26.2 with Donna - The National Marathon to Fight Breast Cancer” benefits The Donna Hicken Foundation, a charitable organization dedicated to helping women with breast cancer. The foundation, in turn, has pledged to donate most of the race proceeds to the Mayo Clinic for research and its Multidisciplinary Breast Clinic.
Donna Hicken is a two-time breast cancer survivor who founded the The Donna Hicken Foundation to help underserved women with breast cancer; she currently works as a popular news anchor for Garnett Broadcasting’s NBC and ABC affiliates in Jacksonville, Florida. Hicken is a dedicated marathon runner who devotes much of her time to raising awareness about breast cancer and motivating other women to run.
Runners who register before June 1 will pay a discounted entry fee of $75.00. After June 1, the registration fee for the full marathon increases to $95.00.
Registration is also available for the half marathon, and the fee is $50.00.
