Newport 10,000 set for May 12th in Jersey City, NJ

The Riker Danzig Newport 10,000, a 10 km road race, is set for Saturday, May 12, in Jersey City, N.J., race director Mark Zenobia reported. It will be the fourth edition for the event held on a flat course within sight of the Hudson River.
A total prize money purse of $19,200 is on offer, with $2,000 going to the male and female race winners. Part of the purse, $3,500, has been set aside for American athletes.
The race also serves as the USATF-New Jersey Open 10-K championship for men and women.
The course records are 28:42 by Julius Kiptoo of Kenya set in 2004, and 32:00 by Tetyana Hladyr of Ukraine last year.
