National Marathon Record For Viktor Röthlin in Zürich

Reigning European Championships silver medalist in the marathon, Viktor Röthlin of Switzerland, broke his own national record for the marathon in Zürich today, running away from the field in 2:08:20 (2:08:19.2). It was also the second fastest time in the world this year.
“He won clearly and solo the last six kilometers,” wrote his manager Reto Schorno in a text message to the RRW office.
For Röthlin, 32, it was his second victory at Zürich. His first came in 2005 when he set the the Swiss record of 2:09:56. He was also second in 2003 and fourth in 2005.
Sammy Kurgat of Kenya finished second in 2:11:36, while Nina Podnebesnova of Russian won the women’s race in 2:37:00.
