Athletes looking to compete in a fall marathon should give the Kosice Peace Marathon in the Slovak Republic a look, the second-oldest marathon in Europe. Founded in 1924, the 82nd edition will take place on Sunday, October 7.
According to Alfons Juck, who is recruiting athletes for the event, a male winner breaking 2:11:00 will earn 18,000 Euros (about 25,000 USD) at the 2007 race.
The men’s course record is 2:12:25 while the women’s course record is 2:31:28, and bonuses are available for bettering those marks.
