Liz Yelling (Bedford and County) won today’s Bath Half-Marathon in a course record 1:09:28. It was also a career best time for Yelling, 32, last year’s Commonwealth Games bronze medalist in the marathon.
“I felt really strong,” said Yelling in comments posted on her federation’s website. “I thought the course record was a realistic target so I just set off – and the crowd support was awesome.”
Yelling, who broke Andrea Wallace’s course record of 1:09:39 set in 1993, will be running the Flora London Marathon on Sunday, April 22. Many feel she is overdue to break her marathon personal best time of 2:30:58 set at Berlin in 2003.
