Have you been trying to find a way to lose that pregnancy weight? Or have you found that parenthood is making it difficult for you have enough time to workout? Well, then jogging and running strollers may be your savior.
These strollers have become the new craze; allowing parents to spend quality time with their children and still enjoy their healthy lifestyle and stay in shape.
However, there are so many different models of baby jogging strollers, it can be difficult to find the one best for you and your baby (or babies). Here is some helpful information regarding ow to chose a stroller that is comfortable and safe for your child, while still effective enough to give you a solid workout.
Before you consider buying one, make sure your child is ready to join you on your healthy workouts. Mama’sHealth.com reported:
Manufactures recommend to wait until your baby is 6 months old before you run with them in the jogging stroller. Before the age of 6 months, the baby’s muscles are not strong enough to support his/her spine.
Once you are ready to purchase a stroller, there are several different types to choose from. This gives you the freedom to find the one that best fits your workout routine and your child’s needs.
Special specifications for these strollers include the age and weight of your child and what type of workout or terrain you will use the stroller for. For instance,
If you plan on running on rough trail paths, you will need a jogging stroller that has a heavy duty frame, a great shock absorbers and a front fender that deflects dirt.
The strollers run at an average weight of 20 to 30 pounds, with 12, 16, or 20 inch wheels. The wheels come with shock absorbency, providing your child with a more comfortable and easy ride. For those you with young ones that are close in age or if you have twins, these strollers come with single, double and even triple seats. They are also collapsible for easy storage and transportation.
In order to keep your child safe, the strollers come equipped with harnesses. They have multiple straps and padding to keep your child from bouncing around too much; keeping them cozy and protected. They also come with an adjustable canopy for shading; protecting your baby from the sun and wind.
There are also parking breaks and hand breaks to allow you to stop easily if you need to tie a shoelace or attend to one of your children. However, the stroller should not be left alone on a hill or uneven spot.
Here are some helpful tips to keep your child safe and comfortable so your workout has fewer interruptions. Use the canopy every time so that while your body temperature is rising, your child’s is not. In warmer weather, keep your jogs shorter so your child can stay cool and be more comfortable.
About.com recommends:
Use your runs to your advantage. If you run right before naptime, the rhythmic sound of you running may put your child to sleep, which can be a nice bonus of your runs.
It may also help to shift your child’s position during your runs to increase their comfort and contentment.
Some of the top single-seating models are the BOB IronMan, the Baby Jogger Performance Single, and the Dreamer Design Slingshot RPS. Good double-seating models include the BOB IronMan Duallie, the Kelty Deuce Coupe, and the Baby Jogger Performance Double.
Here is a website to help you find the right jogging stroller for you and your child: JoggingStroller.com. It has a list of available strollers and guide for selecting the right one. The website breaks down the strollers by type, size of the wheels, number of seats and even by built-in storage pockets.
Although some of these strollers are a bit expensive, they are worth every penny. Just imagine how great you will feel going for an invigorating run and being able to spend time with your child - all at the same time.
