In a world of fast food, poor eating habits and vitamin deficiencies; VEGA, a new line of nutritional product from Sequel Naturals, aims to provide a well-balanced line of vitamins, bars and shakes to increase health and overall well-being. They call it, “Real Food. Fast.” Created by Ironman Triathlete Brendan Brazier, Vega products are a result of Braziers own personal difficulties with nutrition and his successes with these home-grown recipes.
After being told he couldn’t maintain a plant-based lifestyle and still be a premier althlete, Brendan began a long and difficult trial and error approach to nutrition; often feeling hungry, constantly needing to eat, reduced energy level’s and a decrease in athletic performance. Finally, after creating his own plant-based, vegan diet; Brazier has become a professional Ironman triathlete, author, public speaker and the founder of Vega.
He partnered with Sequel Natural’s to create the Vega line of plant-based whole food products. Brazier explains:
I formulated Vega using the highest quality, least processed, plant-based super foods available. Armed with Vega, you will no longer need to compromise between whole food goodness and fast food convenience. To me, Vega is a way of life - I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
But don’t worry; you don’t have to be a vegan or in training for a triathlon to enjoy and benefit from these products. Vega’s product line is for everyone; from serious athletes to those on a calorie-reduced diet. They are also excellent for anyone looking to boost their energy and/or maintain a healthier lifestyle.
Vega products include Whole Food Meal Replacement shakes; available in Natural, Berry and Chocolate flavors and in three sizes: individual 20g Snack Packs, small bottles containing 7-8 servings and large bottles containing 15-17 servings. The shakes are low in calories (240) and net carbs (7g), but are high in fiber, protein and essential fats.
Vega also makes Whole Food Energy Bars; available in the same 3 flavors as the shakes. Vega describes them as:
Clean and green, Vega bars contain no refined sugars, oils, gluten or soy and are GMO and pesticide-free. Moist and delicious, Vega bars are available in chocolate, berry and natural flavors. Our Vega bars are made from raw, alkaline, enzyme rich, plant-based whole foods that nourish the body and mind.
Vega products are widely available in Canada and can be found in many, American health food stores (i.e. - Whole Foods). Vega products are also endorsed by bodybuilder Robert Cheeke, mountain-climber Tomasina Pidgeon and recording artist Bif Naked.

All and all, this product line seems to be perfect for every dietary need. It draws the focus away from the quick fixes and focuses on internal health. Vega also uses what are literally, the healthiest (and often overlooked) nutrients and proteins. It’s difficult to argue against the all natural, internal concept that keeps has enough substance and quality to keep an amazing athlete such Brendan Brazier moving then surely it can be as beneficial to someone looking to live a cleaner, healthier lifestyle.

January 24th, 2007 at 6:53 amI am in the Air Force and we are not allowed to have products that have hemp in them. Is there any Vega products that don’t have hemp? I am a raw foodist and am planning on running in a marathon and want something I can easily take that will help keep my strength up and is more raw than what I’ve found out there.
June 29th, 2007 at 5:05 pmHi, I have been recently diagnosed as a Diabetic, which is quite surprising to me, as I am lean, fit and have a very good diet.
Question; I am taking Vega every morning with a smoothie pack for lunch as well, is this going to be ok or will this adversely raise my blood glucose levels?
Thanks for your advise!
February 4th, 2008 at 5:26 pmI’m confused with the serving sizes on the vega 20g snack packs. It says 290cal per serving for chocolate, which i assumed was the whole individual packet, yet it says servings per package 1/3. Can anyone clear this up for me? Does that mean there is really 870 cals in the package? or 98 cals?
