lance running.jpgLance Armstrong has already won the Tour de France (A record setting seven times in a row), beat testicular cancer, raised millions of dollars for cancer research and started a fashion craze with his “LIVESTRONG” bracelets.

So after all that - what is good ol’ Lance doing to enjoy his well deserved retirement? Running the ING New York City marathon on November 5th (Isn’t that every retiree’s dream?!?!).

In honor of this incredible cyclist, athlete and humanitarian - Rodale, Inc. (Publisher of Runner’s World Magazine) has decided to give away a year of free running shoes to the person who comes the closest to predicting Lance’s finishing time. The winner, who will be notified on November 10th, will have their choice of up to seven pairs of running shoes from any national manufacturer (Worth about $900 in retail value).

Go ahead and test your ability to predict the future and try to come away with those free shoes (BTW - I am a size 12 if you win and maybe want to throw a pair my way!). To enter, please go to the official contest page.

The entire TFS staff and I wish Lance, an international hero, the best of luck in NYC.

How long did it take P-Diddy / Puff Daddy to run the marathon? I say Lance will be that by 2 hours =)

    Interesting prediction, haha.

Sean (Diddy) Combs ran the ING NYC Marathon in 2003 with a time of 4:14:54. In the process, he raised about $2 million for NYC schools.

Some other notable celebrity marathon times:

    3:30:18 - Senator John Edwards
    3:44:52 - President George W. Bush
    3:56:12 - Will Ferrel
    4:29:20 - Oprah Winfrey
    4:58:25 - Al Gore

I think he may run aroun 3:35 if he finishes.I read he has not completed a long run as of september.

  4. Doug Berger said:

That could hurt. But then again, he is The Lance Armstrong.

  5. Henry W said:

    I predict 2:44:18

  6. Adam Jacobs said:

He has ran a 16-miler — which is certainly long enough for him to at least finish the race.

At the press conference yesterday it became apparent that he wants to beat out another cyclist had ran a marathon in about 2:55.

    My prediction: 2:49

Running on the roads is quite different than biking! I will predict Lance will finish at 3:10.

  8. Jerred Mason said:

I say that Lance finished the race in about 2 hours, 59 minutes, 36 seconds. He called the race the hardest physical thing he has ever done and running can be hard after long distances but he has stamina and he wroks hard.

  9. Bill said:

That’s funny, Jerred, that’s the exact time I guessed, before the race. What’s that you say? Win a year’s wait ’til you get your shoes?
